About
Julie
I am a mother of 2, recognised doula, childbirth
preparation mentor and breastfeeding counsellor.
After having had a medical birth first
time round I knew I wanted a different experience with my second baby. So my sister acted as our doula and the
difference it made to the confidence I had in my body was huge, leading to
have a straightforward, drug-free birth.
I decided I wanted to become a doula
after being at a friend’s labour and finding myself slipping into the role
easily, making both my friend and her husband feel relaxed and able to cope
well with labour.
I have been doula to over 20 clients, supporting a variety of birth experiences
both at home and in hospital. Many of the births I have attended have
been without intervention, but I have also supported women through a range
of medicalised births. I am a member of Doula UK.
I have a good relationship with midwives
and am known in the John
Radcliffe Hospital
as I am involved in the Maternity Services Liaison Committee and I work at
the breastfeeding clinic every week.
This has given me the great privilege of working with breastfeeding
experts Chloe Fisher and Sally Inch learning both the theoretical and
practical sides of breastfeeding from them and consolidating this training
by doing the UNICEF Breastfeeding Management course.
I have studied with Pam England
(birthingfromwithin.com) on her Childbirth Preparation Mentor program. My doula work, my own experiences, my
preparation work with clients and the philosophy of Birthing From Within
all influence my approach and come out as Birth by
Nature
I look forward to sharing my ideas with
you………………
