What is a Doula?
.
A birth doula is a birth companion
who gets to know a couple during several antenatal preparation meetings,
supports them through labour and birth and visits once or twice afterwards
for debriefing and support.
A post-natal doula also meets the couple
before birth but does not attend the birth. She will visit the family regularly during the early
weeks/months, offering support and advice with the baby and managing the
challenges of new parenthood.
